A record number of air passengers are expected to hit the skies by the end of this year, according to the International Air Transport Association. The association estimates a record 3.59 billion, and expects that number to climb to 8.2 billion by 2037. Numerous estimates cite the need to hire thousands of new pilots. Some air carriers reduce, or cancel, flight schedules as a result of these pilot shortages.
